UWM TIGHT-LIPPED ON MC BRIDE STATUS
By Michael Horne
University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee officials would not comment on reports that there may have been a change in employment status for Lecturer Jessica McBride when contacted today by Milwaukeeworld in response to a message that a meeting to discuss her status had been held today, Friday, October 23rd, 2009.
"It is a personnel matter at this time, and we have no comment," said a department of Journalism and Mass Comminications spokesperson who directed calls to the university's Department of Legal affairs, "although they will probably give you the same response."
Milwaukeeworld also sent an e-mail to, and left a telephone message with department chair Dr. David Pritchard asking if a meeting had been scheduled for 9:30 a.m. today to discuss McBride's status. Dr. Pritchard did not respond as of this writing. (Perhaps he's in a meeting.)
McBride admitted this summer to an affair with Edward Flynn, Milwaukee's police chief, whose billets doux en Francais are said to be irresistible.

There seemed to be a lot of wishful thinking in that relationship. I hope Mon. Flynn's letters showed a proper regard for the subjunctive case.
For what it's worth, they haven't even updated her staff site for at least two years. I wonder what Dr. Freud would have thought about her first "Selected Publication."
You're being cheeky, Michael, but in point of fact, Ms. McBride has been teaching Ethics in the Journalism department, and recent events do create a legitimate reason to examine her status.
