Although police possessed the DNA of Walter E. Ellis, his identity was unknown, and the news media reported the then-unknown suspect therefore had no criminal record.
However, it appears Ellis was not unknown to the court system, and he has a felony.
A Walter E. Ellis of 2827 W. Bobolink Ave., Milwaukee, faces a $436 judgment due the State of Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development in an Unemployment Compensation case filed in June, 2009. An unnamed petitioner got a Harassment Restraining Order against Ellis in February, 2009. Another woman asked for, but did not receive a similar order against Ellis in June, 2008.
In June, 2006, while living at 6730 W. Keefe Ave., Ellis was found guilty of operating with a suspended license. He owes the court $476 for a hit-and-run accident that same month, when he gave an address of 6441 W. Silver Spring Dr.
He was found guilty of a Class  "D" Felony charge of 2nd Degree Reckless Injury on March 12th, 1998, when he gave an address of 3037 N. 6th St.. In a case filed July 2nd, 1997, at the same address, he was found guilty of Felony Retail Theft and Disobedience to Traffic Officers.
No bail has been set for Ellis, and he is not eligible for release at this time.
HERE IS PHOTO OF TRESSIE JOHNSON, ARRESTED WITH ELLIS
Attention Citizens! Concerned with the issue of jail overcrowding? Do your part by coming up with $5,300 cash bail, and you can ease the Sheriff's burden by freeing Tressie Johnson from jail. She faces charges of aiding Ellis in eluding the police who were searching for the suspected serial killer. Tressie is five years older than her man. Crack cocaine was found on the site, interestingly enough.
