Scott A. Krahn
has filed an application for a new Class "B" Tavern and Cabaret / Nite Club and Amusement Machine Premises and Cigarette & Tobacco license on July 31, 2009 for Satin, 117 W Pittsburgh Ave, corner S. 2nd St.
Satin, as we know, is showy, but not as classy as Silk, which should be enough to give us pause, since Krahn is also the agent for Silk Exotic Lounge, a Milwaukee strip club that touts itself as "The Midwest's Only Las Vegas Style Gentleman's Clubs."
Here is the classy website for Silk Exotic Milwaukee with a link to Silk Juneau ("Full Nude, Full Alcohol"). Silk Exotic also hosts Jokerz Comedy Club in its 11400 W. Silver Spring Rd. address, with Krahn as agent. The Bada Bing social club, also of the same address, helps round out the portfolio of entertainment from Camelot Banquet Rooms, Inc., John J. Ferraro, Registered Agent. Ferraro is also the agent for FEROL, LLC., which is listed as the owner of the proposed Satin. Ferol was organized on May 16th, 2009, probably just for this reason. Ferraro, when asked if he was involved in the club, said this to Milwaukeeworld: "Yes I am. We are very excited to bring a world class men's club to the downtown area."
Not just "Las Vegas Style," mind you, but "world class."

The 117 W. Pittsburgh Av. building is owned by Timothy J. Olson and is zoned IM. Industrial Mixed zoning is designed "for the orderly conversion of certain older industrial and warehouse areas. ... these area's have an urban character, typically built without setbacks and yards and often with little or no off-street parking." In this case it is also built next to the railroad tracks and on an underpass. The curb height in front of the building is perhaps 5 feet. Those girls will need mighty high heels!
Olson better not hire Ogden and Company to manage the place -- the real estate firm has an unpaid $60,000 judgment against him! And you think you have a big electric bill? -- Olson owes WE Energies over a quarter million dollars, and has outstanding judgments totalling over $350,000. Dan Knauss took care of him rather thorougly in posts at Riverwest Neighborhood News in 2007.

Satin's trackside location is in an area that has only recently recovered from such former infestations as C'est La Vie, Club 219 and the Phoenix, all gay, all bad news (just ask the families of Jeffrey Dahmer's victims) and all gone.
Satin would be across from the Ball Game, and around the corner from Just Art's Saloon and Ginger, respectable places all.
The nearly 20,000 square foot Satin building includes one (legal) dwelling unit within its walls, but I'm sure the girls will make do, since they'll only need it an hour or so at a time. For many years only male prostitution was common to the area. Satin will doubtlessly change that!
A neighboring property owner says of the proposed club: "It won't happen." The Licenses Committee of the Milwaukee Common Council will next meet on September 9th, 2009, when Satin's application is expected to be heard.
