I gather the suspect in the beating of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett was a 20-year old Native American male, 5'9" tall and 265 pounds. He fled the scene and was apprehended in the vicinity of N. 16th and W. State streets. Police came to the scene and the resident of the property denied the suspect was inside. Meanwhile, the suspect is believed to have been on the phone attempting to negotiate his surrender.
So the buddy is in jail, too, and may face more serious charges for harboring the suspect than the suspect himself will face for beating the mayor.
I've checked the Sheriff's Inmate website but could not find a photo of Anthony J. Peters, d.o.b. 03/1989 of S. 86th St. in West Allis. [UPDATE Wednesday, August 19th, 2009 -- A booking photo has since been posted here on Milwaukeeworld.--Ed.] He owes the Marinette County Clerk $186 for driving without a valid license.
Looks like our Peters also is connected with a 1984 birthdate. Disorderly conduct, bail jumping.
Anthony J. Peters, then of 1505 W. Harrison St. received a Municipal Citation for posession of alcohol by an underage person on March 3rd, 2007, at 2:57 a.m. That cost him $175.
On March 26th, 2007, Peters received a ticket for "Aiding and Abetting Ordinance Violation" at 1434 W. Windlake Ave. at 8:30 p.m. The violation carried a $349 forfeiture.

"Buddy ... may face more serious charges for harboring the suspect than the suspect himself will face for beating the mayor."
With respect, I find this highly unlikely, considering the weapon involved and the potential for grievous injury, if not death.
@Michael The police department was asking the media not to run the photo to insure a good lineup.
Thank you for this information. I hope you don't release a photo until the suspect is charged though. Let's not have a Not Guilty by Judge's Technicality case here.
