FIRST PHOTOS EVER OF AMERICAN IDOL DANNY GOKEY'S MILWAUKEE PARADE ROUTE

ROUTE WILL PASS VARIED LANDMARKS:
ADULT REHABILITATION CENTER,
ABORTION CLINIC,
BANANA WAREHOUSE
AMONG MILWAUKEE ATTRACTIONS
FOR WORLD TO SEE
[Editor's Note: I don't watch American Idol itself, but I see enough of it on other shows to be able to follow it fairly well, if not avidly. So, you bet I know what all the fuss is about!]
Milwaukeean Danny Gokey is back in his hometown today, Friday, May 8th, 2009, along with a crew from the nation's most popular television series. He and the other two finalists for American Idol are back among their peeps for whirlwind tours of their respective cities.
It's almost certain Milwaukee will do a better job than rivals San Diego [Adam Lambert] (like, who cares?) and Conway, Arkansas [Kris Allen].
Gokey's day started at WITI-Fox6 in Brown Deer, where even Gus Gnorski had to interview screaming school girls.
(Note to Gus -- Sharon Morrisey will be furious if the crowds trampeled your garden!)
Gokey will visit local attractions including the Harley-Davidson Museum, the Bronze Fonz, Discovery World and the Milwaukee Art Museum. (Too bad the Bronze Fonz isn't in the museum itself. It would have saved him a trip on a very tight schedule.)
The highlight of the day certainly will be a parade for Gokey beginning at 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of N. Jackson and E. Michigan streets. Here will be a vista of Milwaukee broadcast around the world.
The Milwaukeeworld advance team took a tour of the parade route and brings you these first-ever photos of what will within days become the most celebrated boulevard in this city.
WHAT THE WORLD WILL SEE:
These photographs of N. Jackson St. are the first in the world ever taken of the Danny Gokey parade route, once that route had been announced.
The bottom picture is a photograph of the beginning of the parade route, at N. Jackson and E. Michigan streets. To the right is the Johnson Controls Brengel Center. Johnson Controls is not a sponsor of American Idol. What a missed opportunity!
The very top photograph is the family planning center - clinic of Planned Parenthood, Inc. The second photograph shows a view of Jackson street as it approaches E. Chicago St., where the parade route will head east to the Henry W. Maier Festival Park, where Gokey will present a free show at 5 p.m. To the right in the photo is A. Gagliano's Banana Warehouse -- one of the finest climate-controlled banana warehouses in the nation, and one of downtown's most significantly large metal buildings.
To the left in the photograph is the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center, which is also seen in the third photograph from the top.
I'm off to mark my territory for the big event!
