Corey Kleser, awaiting trial for the brutal November, 2006 death of Ronald O. Adams, faces a new misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct, raising to five the criminal cases against him, four of which have to do with his conduct behind bars, where he has been since age 15. For good measure, he also has a case pending in the state appeals court regarding whether he should be tried as an adult or as a juvenile in the 1st degree homicide death of Adams.
Kleser -- all 150 pounds of him -- turned 18 on New Year's Eve, around which time he was ordered to be relocated from the elite all-male Lincoln Hills School for Boys in Irma to the Milwaukee County Criminal Justice Facility. His $250,000 bail remains in effect, plus another $200 for the most recent charge. You'd think some nice man would have come up with it by now.
It took less than a month for Kleser to do something disorderly in the jail here; charges were filed on Wednesday, January 28th, 2009, and he faced the judge for a preliminary hearing yesterday, Thursday, January 29th, 2009. He'll be back on February 18th, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. in the Branch 36 courtroom of Judge Jeffrey A. Kremers [UW '75]. The offense dates to January 26th.

He also faces a similar misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge in Waukesha County from December, 2007, Milwaukee County felony charges for criminal battery and battery by prisoner dating to January, 2007, and a Waukesha felony battery by prisoner charge from May, 2007, all while awaiting resolution of the state appeals case.
The appeals case has to do with whether to try Kleser as a juvenile or an adult in the original homicide case. If a juvenile, and found guilty, Kleser would be released at age 25, fully rehabilitated, you can be sure.
