Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser has named his childhood friend Atty. David Halbrooks [UW '87] to be one of his representatives to the board of the Milwaukee 7 development group. Kreuser will also name himself to one of the three spots reserved for his appointment, with the final member to be named in the future, according to assistant Jennie Tunkieicz, responding to a request from Milwaukeeworld wondering what was taking Kreuser so long.
Halbrooks, a Milwaukee resident and former municipal judge in the state's largest city, is an attorney in private practice with close ties to his home city, once the land of the Nash Rambler and the Simmons Mattress, and now exploring new business nodes.
The Milwaukee 7, known to its friends as simply "M7," is a group of business and political leaders established in 2005 to encourage regional cooperation for the growth of commerce and industry in southeast Wisconsin.
Kreuser also released a statement today saying Kenosha County would welcome any stimulus money that Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker said he'd refuse, adding he feared Walker's "inexplicable stance" against the federal funding might discourage businesses from relocating to this region.
