BOBOT TO RETIRE; ELECTION NIGHT PARTIES

BOBOT TO RETIRE

Special to the Readers of Milwaukeeworld.com

By Michael Horne

No matter who wins the City Attorney race today, Assistant City Attorney Vince Bobot says Friday, April 4th, 2008 will be his last day. The 37-year veteran of the municipal government, who has served in such capacities as police officer, municipal judge and in his current gig, says he will retire and eventually go into private practice, as he was for a couple months at the beginning of the Barrett administration before his current stint.

ELECTION NIGHT PARTIES HERE

We stand to have some interesting election night parties here in Milwaukee, so let's take a look at where they are. We'll start with the party for Scott Walker (I said some of them would be interesting, not all). The current County Executive plans to greet his supporters at the Tommy G. Thompson Youth Center at Wisconsin State Fair Park, 640 S. 84th St. in 'Stallis. In addition to dorms with bunkbeds, the facility includes The Governor's Room, which is 2,700 square feet in size. Fun facts: the hep cats at state fair call it the "T.G.T." center ... It's just two blocks north of W. Walker St. ... Despite being marketed to children and named in their honor, the center serves alcohol ... The facility is owned by the State of Wisconsin. ... Did you think Scott Walker would have his party in a County-owned facility? Of course not, you know what horrible shape they're in! ... The best managed department in the Milwaukee County Courthouse is the Cafeteria.
Lena Caroline Taylor will greet her supporters at a "Victory Party" in the old Park East Hotel [now the Comfort Inn Suites] Ballroom above Aqua, 916 E. State Street. Fun Fact: .The Park East was once controlled by the very Republican Sen. Robert W. Kasten, Jr. ... Mayor Tom Barrett will be at Derry Hagerty's, 5328 W. Bluemound Rd., and an outpost of Barrett election night revelry for decades. ...

Over in the Third Aldermanic District, Nik Kovac will hold his gig at Linneman's Riverwest Inn, 1001 E. Locust St.. Fun Fact: Sarah Kozar says she will bring her accordion tonight for what she expects to be a celebration. ... Opponent Patrick Flaherty will greet his guests at Balzac, in the Passeggio at 1716 N. Arlington Pl.. Ald Bob Bauman of the 4th District said he would hold his event at the "Ancathus" Bed and Breakfast." by that he surely means the Acanthus Inn Bed and Breakfast, 3009 W. Highland Blvd.

Pedro Colon will hold his City Attorney party at Pedrano's, 600 S. 6th St. , and Louis Butler will greet his supporters at the new Riverfront Pizzeria, on the water at 509 E. Erie St. Mike Gabelman, his challenger for the "Milwaukee" seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, will hold his party at Ray and Dot's Legion Post, 6351 W. Grange Rd., Greendale. [It's the closest thing he could find to Burnett County around these parts.--Ed.]

Ald. Michael McGee
will celebrate with his friends in the Day Room, Cell Block "C," until it's time for "lights out." McGee has been saving his "squares" for a couple of weeks so he can make confetti to celebrate his victory.
Better to use toilet paper than The New York Times, which ran an article about him today and his rising chances as the bright young man of Milwaukee politics.

WHITTOW PARTY LOCATION REVEALED

City Treasurer Wayne Whittow will party at the Springfield Retirement Castle [see illustration] as the guest of Abraham Simpson. They plan to keep the joint rocking until their medication kicks in. Whittow, who is already collecting two pensions in addition to his Social Security income, is a familiar figure on the government payroll.

NO WALKER FOR RUNNER; SAYS TAYLOR BETTER SUITED

Alex Runner,
the chief aide to Common Council President Willie Hines, said he supports Lena Taylor for County Executive when questioned by this department, open just once a year on April Fool's Day, where we make a clever headline out of people's names. You must believe me, because I am
