CLUB PRIVATE'X OUT FOR GOOD AFTER SHOOTING

New, Useless, Downtown Hip-Hop Club Shut after Weekend Shooting Injures 2

Special to the readers of milwaukeeworld
By Michael Horne

The new club Private’X at 530 N. Water Street is closed for good and will not reopen following a shooting there Saturday, January 12th, 2008.

The club, known as “Milwaukee’s Premiere Nightspot for the Grown & Sexy” has its own My Space page.

There we learn that “every night is an adventure into the seductive side of Milwaukee's nightlife. If you think you are up for it, our doors are always open to you! But remember... What happens at Club Private'x, stays Private!!!... Shhhh!!!”

That’s what they thought!

An argument in the club emerged into the street, and two individuals were injured in the resulting gunfire.

But the folks won’t be needing their MySpace account anymore, since First District Captain Michael Massa went down to the City Clerk’s office and yanked the club’s license right out of the file. Got a problem with that? Also, the landlord changed the locks on the doors of the building and terminated the lease of the club. “They’re not coming back,” said Ald. Bob Bauman in a telephone interview with www.milwaukeeworld.

No lengthy revocation hearings, no anguished court proceedings. Just gone. And don’t come back!

again millwaukee shows how minority businesses have no chance of success. We as black business owners must stand up against the perception of our people. Private X should be open!

Club Private X is owned by African-Americans. As americans they also have the right to a revocation hearing and a proper eviction process. These procedures were violated by the police captian and the landlord of Private X. I guess they think it's okay to violate African- Americans' rights like it's the 60's again. This is another case of RACIAL PREJUDICE by the city of milwaukee. Police captian massa, alderman bauman, and the Private X landlords are all RACISTS who don't want an African- American business in the downtown area.

What a load of cr@p! This is a case of not wanting to be held liable for the acts of a few ignorant customers, not the act of rascists. Racists would not have granted the license or the lease in the first place. Do you want to risk being caught in the crossfire? Business owners, customers and the community need to stand up to the thug mentality that sanctions settling percieved disrespect with gunfire. The closing of the club has nothing to do with not wanting black owned businesses to succeed.

I don't care if the club I'm in is black owned, white owned, or polka-dot owned: I'd like to know shots won't be fired at me!
Keep it closed!
