BRANDT OUT AS PACKERS VP & GC

Andrew Brandt, the Green Bay Packers Vice President of Player Finance, General Counsel, and unlicensed attorney, has resigned from the team's front office, according to an item just released by Robert Demovsky of the Green Bay Press Gazette.
As we mentioned in Milwaukeeworld in May, 2007, Brandt served as general counsel of the Packers despite not being licensed to practice law in any state. This is not illegal or improper, and the corporate counsel duties were handled by Jason Wied, who is licensed in Wisconsin. Most Wisconsin companies do require licensure for their counsels, however.
Brandt had hoped to become the General Manager of the Packers, and perhaps if he had kept his licenses in order, that could have been his title today, the first at work for new GM Mark Murphy.
The Packers made an official announcement this afternoon, saying the parting was mutual.
