Andrew Bandy, the confessed embezzler who stole a quarter million dollars from the Giuffre family's Mallory Properties company was sentenced this morning, Thursday, January 17th, 2008, to fifteen months in a federal correctional facility. He was also given five years federal probation by Columbia Law School grad, U. S. District Court Judge Lynn Adelman.
Bandy's sentencing was oft delayed, as previous Milwaukeeworld posts have noted. Although he has been sentenced, he remains free since the judge allowed him to report to prison once he is notified by the Bureau of Prisons which facility he is to enter. This process could take several weeks, a court official said.

Soho 7 True Lounge was jammed with a well-dressed and well-heeled crowd for its grand opening Tuesday, January 15th, 2008. The club, which occupies a floor in a loft building at 231 E. Buffalo St., seems aimed at the grown-up audience, ranging from those in their early thirties who have never married to those in their early forties who are back on the market. The design takes influences from New York and Miami, and then dumbs them down for Milwaukee. It is not one of those "I'll meet you there after work" places, but is rather a true club, and one that doesn't open its doors until 7 p.m. Among those enjoying the event were the estimable Simie Fein, whose Fein Bros. has equipped practically every bar and restaurant in the area, joined by tavern owners Don Rafaelli and Brett Massone out on their Tuesday evening rounds. Milwaukee detective and judicial candidate Jeff Norman dropped in for a soft drink, took a look around and remarked that his clubbing days were well behind him. Really! How could you expect to get a fair sentence from a judge who hangs out in discotheques all night? .. Luna Cafe + Lounge has opened at First Place on the River, 106 W. Seeboth St. Can't quite place it? Look for the red glow on the newest segment of the riverwalk, on the south side of the Water Street Bridge. You can see it all the way from Wisconsin Avenue, once you have your eyes trained. Owner / Manager Megan McCormick says she's happy to open quietly, but expects things will be exciting in the upcoming season when she can fling her doors open to her riverside plaza and marina. The format is after dinner dessert, drinks and entertainment on two floors of the radically transformed warehouse building that sits just feet from the confluence of the Milwaukee and Menomonee rivers, which is also that point from which all Milwaukee street addresses originate. ... Pedro Colon will unveil his television / podcast advertisement this evening at Moct. I'll check it out and report back to you. This could be interesting since Pedro is one of the first office seekers in this area to embrace such campaign ideas as MySpace and Facebook pages. It is very possible that a lot of old-timey campaign experts will find the value of their past experiences to have little currency in today's electoral market, especially if young people of voting age actually --- vote.

Is this the same Andrew Bandy who worked as a property manager for Dan Katz?
Yes, it is, but Katz had nothing to say to investigators for whatever reason.
