Re-Post and New Comments on Taylor Exec Bid

[[Update -- Wednesday, September 12th, 2007: The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is telling its readers that Lena Taylor has not announced her candidacy, and did not do so at Fighting Bob Fest in Baraboo last Saturday, as reported here.
"More likely, if Taylor has decided to run, she's getting her ducks in a row for a bigger announcement splash," the item, dated 3:54 p.m. yesterday, September 11th, 2007 read. [Emphasis added. -- Ed.]
It was not the intention of this department to mislead readers into believing that Ms. Taylor's comments, made before an audience of 500 at the Sauk County Fairgrounds, were the formal declaration of candidacy and the opening salvo of her campaign for Milwaukee County's most exalted seat. Milwaukeeworld readers are far too intelligent and sophisticated to be confused on this issue.
It was the intention, however, to remove the "if" from the Journal Sentinel's "if Taylor has decided to run," quoted above.
So, how's this for an example:
According to the Milwaukee County Election Commission, in a telephone conversation with Milwaukeeworld this morning, Wednesday September 12th, 2007 at 11:30 a.m., Lena Taylor paid a call at the Commission's office on Monday, September 10th, 2007 for the purpose of filing her election papers, making her the second person to have done so, following Joe Klein. However, the commission advised Ms. Taylor that her papers were missing a critical element, namely the signature of a campaign treasurer. Thus, her filing is imminent, once she tracks down her treasurer.
The video of Taylor's comments at Fighting Bob Fest VI are still being processed, according to Karen Rybold-Chin of One Earth Productions, which captured the entirety of the day-long event.
When it is available, you will see and hear an account that goes pretty much like this:
Taylor: "I'm taking on Scott Walker."
Ed Garvey: "Next time Lena Taylor comes here, she'll be the Milwaukee County Executive."
Crowd: Cheers.
I spoke this morning with Ed Garvey, the impresario and motive force behind Fighting Bob Fest. The topic: "Would a reasonable person in the audience of hundreds who heard the colloquy between Ed Garvey and Lena Taylor come to the conclusion that she had at that time announced her intention to run for County Executive?"
Mr. Garvey's response: "That would be a reasonable interpretation."--Ed.]

State senator Lena Taylor, a Milwaukee Democrat, declared her candidacy for the non-partisan seat of Milwaukee County Executive, the second challenger to announce against incumbent Scott Walker, a former Republican assemblyman.

Taylor made her plans known in an address at Fighting Bob Fest VI, an annual event held today at the Sauk County Fairgrounds in Baraboo. She joins Joe Klein among the announced candidates. Walker is generally considered to intend to announce his candidacy at some point during the campaign season. Nomination papers may be circulated after December 1st. The primary election will be Tuesday, February 19th, 2008.

Taylor supporters were numerous during last week's Labor Day Parade in Milwaukee. Their shirts included maps of Milwaukee County, perhaps a hint of their hero's intentions.

Taylor's announcement came a day after Ald. Michael D'Amato and Rep. Jon Richards said they would not run for Walker's seat.
