WALKER GETS RIVAL; KLEIN FILES PAPERS
A Milwaukeeworld exclusive!
By Michael Horne
Scott Walker finally has a challenger in the race for Milwaukee County Executive. Joe Klein filed a declaration of candidacy with the Milwaukee County Election Commission this morning, Friday, August 31st, 2007 at 10:44 a.m.
Klein, a Milwaukee computer consultant, returned last month from military deployment overseas with the Wisconsin Army National Guard, where he added a couple of rows of ribbons to his already medalioned breast. He ran against Walker and challenger David Riemer in 2004. He says he expects his candidacy will bring out other contenders for the seat.
[Update: Thursday, September 6th, 2007 -- Word of Klein's announcement was not heeded by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, where Daniel Bice, in today's "No Quarter" column wrote once again about the speculation that Mike D'Amato might run for Scott Walker's seat. (P.S. He won't.)
"No one has yet announced plans to take on Walker next spring," Bice wrote. Sorry, that's wrong! --Ed.]
[Klein formerly assisted Milwaukeeworld, but has not had any association with this blog since before his deployment nearly two years ago. -- Ed.]

The saints be praised. We'll finally be rid of the brainless ideologue who has been opposed to everything that is designed to enhance the common good.
