RANDALL NAMED TO TRANSITION ROLE AT PIC

Exclusive first to the readers of www.milwaukeeworld.com
By Michael Horne
Gerard Randall, Jr. will remain at the Private Industry Council for another six months, PIC board chairman John Hiller announced today.
However, as anticipated, Randall will no longer head the agency. Instead he will serve in a newly created role as assistant to Donald Sykes, who was anointed to run the agency by Mayor Tom Barrett, whose office is to assume control of federal job creation and training funds beginning Monday. Happy Fiscal New Year!
In his statement, Hiller, speaking for the PIC Board of Directors, said "Gerard Randall will have a new role in the organization for the next six months as Special Assistant to the President. It is our hope Mr. Sykes and Mayor Barrett will welcome Gerard as part of their transition team. ...
"As the City of Milwaukee and Mayor Barrett take over the management of PIC, we want the transition to be as smooth and seamless as possible, without the interruption or disruption of critical services. The Board accepted its responsibility to transfer the management of the organization in a manner that was forthright, fiscally responsible and with integrity."
The move also permits Randall a chance to show his successor the ropes, and avoids what could have been a nasty, public fight over his termination.
