MAN ON THE MOVE -- AND ON THE GO; ERICKSON NAMED M&I CAO

Man on the move – and on the go!

Erickson named M&I CAO

By Michael Horne

The Marshall & Ilsley Corporation [NYSE:MI] announced yesterday the promotion of Randall J. Erickson to Chief Administrative Officer, a new title. Erickson, 48, a former Godfrey and Kahn partner, joined M&I in 2002 as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of the holding company and its banking subsidiary. He will continue as counsel, but will drop the secretary title, which has gone to Gina McBride.

Here is truly a man on the move–and “on the go!”

Since joining the bank, he has amassed speeding tickets in five Wisconsin counties-- Ozaukee, Columbia, La Crosse, Sheboygan and Milwaukee – averaging better than 10 miles per hour over the limit in each incident.

Unlike some other corporate lawyers who practice in this state, Erickson is a member of the Wisconsin Bar, as well as of the bar associations of Illinois and Minnesota. His 1999 lawsuit against Safeco Insurance Co. of Illinois was victorious, resulting in a default judgment that cost the insurance giant $823.68 in Milwaukee County small claims court.

A solid Republican, Erickson boasts an 11.6 handicap on the links, and is a member of Ozaukee Country Club, located in his adopted hometown of Mequon.
