Yet another marriage of a billionaire's son has foundered on the rocky shores of Milwaukee's matrimonial coast. This week Judge Maxine A. White signed the final decree of divorce between Dacy Abele and her husband Christopher Seton Abele.
The couple met in Wisconsin when Abele, the son of John Abele, founder of Boston Scientific, and Darcy Jirovitz of Sturgeon Bay attended Lawrence University together. John Abele is #258 on the Forbes list of the world's wealthiest people.
The Abeles moved to Milwaukee and became active in many charities. Chris Abele, 40, announced a career of philanthropy, and advances it through the Argosy Foundation, where he serves as the CEO.
The divorce has a parallel in an earlier Milwaukee couple, Peter Andrew Buffett and his wife Mary Buffett. The pair split a few years after moving to Milwaukee from San Francisco in 1990. Peter remarried, this time to Milwaukeean Jennifer Heil, and they made their home here until their relocation to New York city last year. They also have devoted their efforts to charity through their enterprise, the Novo Foundation. Peter Buffett's father Warren Buffett is #2 on the Forbes list.
Ms. Abele has received the permission of the court to resume use of her maiden name.
